At first, the now called silk hats were named "beaver hats", as they were using beaver skin.
With the beaver an endangered species, silk became the norm and the hats became "silk hats".
The silk hats from Prado&Akiko use a high-quality material, the long hair rabbit fur,and offer the sheen and excellence of real beaver hats.

It started in 1997 when Marlies Gericks " a very creative garment engineer " noticed her enthusiasm for the riding sports. She noticed that riding apparel was exactly the opposite of fashionable/stylish. Wide cuts and dark colors were the most dominant things in the cupboards of the equestrian-fans. A situation that Marlies Gericks would have liked changed.
SONNENREITER as a trademark of elta nova GmbH is an exclusive manufacturer of fashionable and at the same time functional riding apparel from Rheine, in the Munsterland.
With its 15 members of staff the company serves more than 400 riding-retailers in 13 countries worldwide. elta nova is called the atelier of Marlies Gericks, who created the trademark in 2000 together with Frank Hinken and who designed all collections since then.

Its origin dates back to the year 1953. On 15 August 1953 founded Otto Schumacher in the Upper Berg Marienheide a saddlery. He specialized in a few years in the making of accessories for riding. He used his expertise, craftsmanship and quality materials to meet the demands of riding to become friends.

170 years ago, a young man by the name of Jakob Roeckl founded his trade as a master leather tailor. His only means of experience were his superior craftsmanship, which he learned and practiced for many years in different places, among others and above all at the tailors of the Imperial Court in Vienna. King Ludwig The First, the much more politically active grandfather of the fairy tale king, granted him permission to open a glove factory in Munich.
In riding a bond is formed between horse and rider, a harmony. The rider feels what mood and shape the horse is in, and the horse feels the rider and her or his intentions. In concrete terms, the rider communicates this intention with the body weight and in particular with her or his hands. This is why riding gloves must never lessen the sensitivity in the rider’s finger tips. Our top-functional materials ROECK-GRIP and SURPREMA, developed especially for riding gloves, are very thin, and elastic, but still they provide an excellent grip on the reins.
